Company OverviewJ. David Reynolds founded Atlantic Geothermal, LLC in 1998 as Earthworm Tunneling Corporation, a successful company dedicated to exploring the potential of drilling methods for geothermal power production. In December of 2006, Reynolds and his associates changed the name of Earthworm Tunneling to Atlantic Geothermal, LLC, in order to reflect the company’s increased focus on not just tunneling methods but on the larger-scale development of geothermal power plants in New England. For over ten years Reynolds has been developing a unique strategy for the design of a 1600 MW/hr geothermal power plant that uses ocean water driven through a deep heat canal as a geothermal heat source. Atlantic Geothermal is now engaging partners on three fronts— scientific, industrial and political—to build this power plant. While we recognize that this project is highly ambitious, and may have significant cost, we believe that the rewards will make it worthwhile for everyone involved. We are dedicated to finding solutions and creating opportunities, as we advance a clean, safe and sustainable alternative for power generation. Management TeamJ. David Reynolds - PresidentStarted running small businesses when he was in high school, studied engineering at Northeastern University, and has been successful in a number of ventures, including hard rock mining. For Dave, the more difficult the challenge, the greater is the satisfaction when success is achieved. This philosophy was the driving force that led him to create Earthworm Tunneling, and now Atlantic Geothermal. Dave’s vision for geothermal power, developed over the last ten years, has been motivated by a firm belief that large-scale geothermal power is the best solution to the planet’s looming energy and environmental crises. This unwavering pursuit of a dream to build a better future has enabled him to overcome criticism and modify the development of this project to create a design with substantial near-term economic and social advantages.
